First and foremost the Bear at Home Inn is a pub that serves good home-made food all with good quality fresh ingredients. What you see will vary according to the day of the week you come in. For example, our fish is delivered from Cornwall on Friday so if you want a selection of good fish dishes, please book a table for Friday or Saturday. Using fresh ingredients rather than frozen it is nigh-impossible to present every item on the menu at all times. The food is prepared in our recently refurbished kitchen by our trained and happy staff. They are led by our two chefs Alison & Laura. The menu board will vary but the selection below is representative of the main courses the Bear at Home Inn will offer on a day to day basis. Please be aware that the menu will vary and some of the dishes will be removed whilst other dishes will be added. Starters include our home or locally made soups. The The girls working hard in our lovely kitchendesserts are both enticing and decadent - difficult to refuse...

FRESH FOOD ANNOUNCEMENT

Our menu is made of FRESH ingredients so what you see will vary according to the day of the week you come in. For example, our fish is delivered from Cornwall on Friday so if you want a selection of good fish dishes, please book a table for Friday or Saturday. As we only use fresh ingredients and not frozen it is nigh-impossible to present every item on the menu at all times.

- oOo -

Tomato & mozarella with crusted bread (not shown)

Our main courses are of course, tasty and filling as well as being superbly presented. All our dishes are home-cooked and designed to make you happy. Our Curries are always hot and strong with an extra special spicy zing for those who want it. Our steaks are cooked to your own personal requirements. If you want a rare or a blue cut then that is what you will be given. If you want a steak a l'anglaise - well cooked throughout with no blood then we can arrange that too.

The pepper sauce is a fine complement to a steak done to any personal taste.

Garlic prawns with crusted bread (not shown)Our fish is as tasty as you would expect from a twice weekly fresh fish delivery direct from Cornwall. If you want our resh fish dish do come in on a day when it has just been delivered. We do not over-order nor do we freeze our fish so please come in on a Wednesday, Friday, Saturday. From our battered fish and chips to baked salmon, you will not be disappointed. Our chips are fresh-cut from the potato and have a deservedly high reputation.

If you have vegetarian tastes then we can always provide you with a meal that is tasty, filling Grilled goats cheese with honey & walnut drizzleand healthy, such as a cheese & mushroom omelette or a pasta dish.

Come and taste this gorgeous pan of seafood Paella

We have "special" food nights such as curry, BBQ or Paella (shown below) which are always popular.

Our desserts are largely aimed squarely at the female market having rather a lot of chocolate and other sweet tastes. For the chaps we often have bread & butter pudding on the menu which we can serve with cream, ices or good old English custard if you want it.

We now have a selection of gorgeous Swiss Movenpick ice creams which will make your palate dance with delight. Choose from Straciatella, Panna Cotta, Mint Choc, Cognac, Maple & Walnut, Banana, Caramalita, Espresso, Swiss Chocolate, Rum n Raisin, Strawberry, Vanilla and more...

We have an outstanding wine list with a wide choice from both the Old and New Worlds, complementing the excellent food. Click here for the wine list. Both the food and wine list will vary from time to time incorporating new and improved dishes. We will also be temporarily removing others so that the menu is always different. We know there is nothing worse than seeing the same old items every time you come in. Therefore, please understand that the current menus are indicative of what we serve but that one or more of the dishes may vary when you actually come in to eat.
